TRIDENT LAYERSTM UNVEILS A WHOLE NEW LEVEL OF FRUIT FLAVOR AND TEXTURE TO SUGAR FREE GUM
Distinct Exotic Flavor Combinations and Layering Technology Add New Dimensions to the Sugar free Gum Category
Parsippany, NJ (August 2009) - Cadbury North America, the maker of Trident® sugar free gum, introduces Trident LayersTM - a unique marriage of bold flavors and textures for an unparalleled, delicious new gum experience. Launching in September 2009 with two distinguishing flavor options: Wild Strawberry + Tangy Citrus and Green Apple + Golden Pineapple, Trident Layers brings a whole new dimension to chewing sugar free gum with a uniquely formulated, visible soft center layer infused with real fruit flavor and a double taste sensation of luscious fruitiness that come together as you chew.

The fastest growing segment in the gum category is fruit flavors. New Trident Layers is a unique dual-flavor gum that combines two real fruit tastes with a first-of-its-kind visible soft middle layer infused with real fruit flavor. The distinctive texture and taste of the visible middle layer in each sugar free piece introduce a new taste experience as the delicious mouth-watering flavors blend together.
Trident Layers Wild Strawberry + Tangy Citrus and Green Apple + Golden Pineapple flavors will be available in convenience, mass merchandise, grocery and drug stores and other retail outlets starting September 2009. Single packs will cost $1.49.
About the Trident® Family of Sugar free Gums
Trident Layers is the newest addition to the Trident family of products that also includes five lines of sugar-free gums.

Trident Splash® delivers a satisfying chewing experience that entertains the mouth with a unique combination of textures with a liquid-filled center surrounded by soft, chewy gum and a sweet, crispy outer shell. Trident Splash is available in six great flavors, Peppermint Swirl®, Strawberry with Lime, Apple with Raspberry, Summer Spearmint®, Orange Swirl™ and Citrus with Blackberry that can be found nationwide in a 9-piece single pack and 3-pack multi-pack.
Trident® Strawberry fusion flavor, which includes six sweet and six sour strawberry flavored pieces in each pack, and Trident® Green Apple fusion flavor, which includes six sweet and six sour apple flavored pieces in each pack, allow consumers to create their own unique taste combinations with every chew. TRIDENT®, DENTYNE ICE® AND STRIDE® SUGAR-FREE CHEWING GUMS AWARDED AMERICAN DENTAL ASSOCIATION SEAL OF ACCEPTANCE
Announcement recognizes gum's safety and effectiveness to help prevent cavities by strengthening teeth and reducing plaque acids
Parsippany, NJ (Oct. 13, 2008) — Cadbury North America today announced that specific flavors of its Trident®, Dentyne Ice® and Stride® brands of sugar-free chewing gums have been granted the American Dental Association (ADA) Seal of Acceptance in recognition of the gums' ability to help prevent cavities by strengthening teeth and reducing plaque acids. The ADA Seal was granted to these gums following the submission of an exhaustive scientific dossier supporting these brands.
"We are proud that Trident, Dentyne Ice and Stride sugar-free gums have earned the highly respected ADA Seal of Acceptance," said Brad Irwin, President, Cadbury North America. "Cadbury introduced the first sugar-free gum, shown not to promote tooth decay, with the launch of Trident more than 40 years ago. We are proud of our long history of achievements and advances in oral health benefits for sugar-free gums."
The ADA's Council on Scientific Affairs' acceptance of these Trident, Dentyne Ice and Stride gums is based on its finding that the physical action of chewing these gums for 20 minutes after eating stimulates saliva flow, which helps to prevent cavities by reducing plaque acids and strengthening teeth.
"When consumers see the ADA Seal of Acceptance, they know they're doing something beneficial for their oral health," said Michael P. Rethman, DDS, MS, Chair of the ADA Council on Scientific Affairs. "After an independent evaluation of scientific evidence, the ADA has concluded that these sugar-free gums meet the ADA's criteria for safety and effectiveness and provide oral health benefits."
Cadbury gums have a long history of gum firsts. Trident was the first nationally distributed sugarless gum product and the first gum to be promoted as cavity fighting. In 1989, Cadbury introduced Sugar-free Dentyne as the first sugar-free breath freshening gum, and in 2006 debuted Stride gum as The Ridiculously Long Lasting Gum® to give consumers a sugar-free gum with an incredibly long lasting chew.
Today, Trident is the best selling chewing gum and sugar-free gum in the world, and in the US we have confirmed that 4 out of 5 dentists surveyed who recommend gum would recommend Trident to their patients who chew gum, and the newest sugar-free gum brand Stride now enjoys a 7.1 share of the gum industry.
